Goat Milk Soap for Eczema

According to the British Skin Foundation, roughly 8 million people in the U.K. suffer from some type of skin condition, ranging from those that are mildly bothersome to some which are absolutely deadly. One of the conditions that seems to fall somewhere in between as it can be extremely bothersome but not life-threatening is eczema.

What is Eczema?

Eczema, sometimes called dermatitis, is an inflammatory skin condition that results in redness, scaling, and itching of the skin. It is more common in children than adults and the exact causes of it are unclear, although there appears to be some type of hereditary factor. Although there are a few different treatment options that can help ease eczema, including various prescription and over-the-counter drugs, the use of goat milk soap has shown some promising results.

Benefits of Goat Milk Soap for Eczema

The nice thing about goat milk soap is that it is a natural treatment. It is also very easy on your skin, which makes it a great choice for people with sensitive skin and for infants suffering with this itchy condition. It also protects your skins oils versus stripping them like other soaps can do.

Several people have used goat soap to help them overcome the bothersome symptoms generally associated with eczema, and each company seems to offer different varieties based upon your skin’s particular sensitivity and needs. Here are some of your options to consider:

  • Pure Goat Milk Soap – This is soap that is created from the milk of a goat, with minimal other ingredients added.
  • Tea Tree Goat Milk Soap – This soap has goat milk and tea tree oil, which adds anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
  • Olive Oil or Coconut Oil Goat Milk Soap – Mixing the goat milk with olive oil or coconut oil gives it more of a lotion-type consistency, making this a favorite for those with sensitive skin. It also creates a hydrating barrier which helps relieve the itch.
  • Calendula Goat Milk Soap – Goat milk and calendula flowers sometimes soothes the skin even more.

If you have eczema, goat milk soap may help ease your discomfort and now you know some of your soap-related options.
