What is stress ?

 

Stress ; a term used regularly in today’s hectic world.

The stress of modern day living has grown, life has increased in pace, decision are made faster with people often becoming impatient.

The word stress has many relations; force, pressure, strain, effort, overload and fear.

For example; We all place ourselves under stress, stressful situations can occur everyday.

  1. Being late for work.
  2. Something not working properly.
  3. A late parcel delivery.
  4. Friends or family not arriving on time. etc.

Stress is a state of mind which we often place upon ourselves.

Everyone holds different views, opinions and meanings for stress, what can be stressful for me may not be stressful for you. Each individual will response differently.

A good way to workout your own stress is to take a few minutes and write down all the things that can cause and trigger stress to yourself. Think of past situations were you remember feeling in a state of complete stress.

Once you’ve completed this task take a minutes and imagine yourself in a complete stress free environment, a lifestyle with no daily pressure. Once you have the picture of your dream lifestyle in your head, try and think of some disadvantages of living in that life permanently? maybe you would miss your family and feel lonely.

Perhaps you need stress to make your dreams come true. Would any athlete become the best in the world without putting themselves under a huge amount of stress?

Stress is not just a bad word, it has helped some of the biggest creations in life so far. It’s good to have a low level of stress, as this is what makes us succeed together.

Physical activity has been proven to reduce stress related illnesses and can help you people coupe better with mental illnesses. If you suffer from large amounts of stress please contact your local GP. Bad stress can lead to lots of different illnesses and problems.
