Coronary heart disease.

Occurs when the arteries that supply the heart become clogged up with fatty substances. The fatty substances are called atheroma and these consist of cholesterol , calcium and fat. Atheroma builds up over time by a process which starts from a young age due to a high cholesterol diet. The process is know as atherosclersis.

  • poor diet
  • obesity
  • smoking
  • lack of exercise
  • psychosocial being
