Running Benefits with Parachutes - Run Chute Speed Training

Looking to increase your running time? Want to train like the elite athletes of the world? If you use a running parachute, you can do both.

Why You Should Train With a Running Parachute

Running parachutes are small, nylon parachutes that are attached to your body by Velcro straps, either at your chest or waist, and expand behind you as you run. They create wind resistance which helps build your strength. So, if you’re looking for an exercise that provides cardio and strength training all in one, look no further.

Even if you’re not a runner, you can still benefit from training with a parachute. For instance, if you play a sport that involves quick bursts of speed, like basketball or soccer, the parachute can help you train more efficiently. As you’re running with it on, simply release the attachment mid-run and finish in an all-out sprint. The immediate release of resistance gives you a burst of speed similar to what you would need in the middle of your sport of choice.

Picking the Right One for You

There are many different sizes to choose from so it’s important to pick the right one for your size and overall strength level. The larger the parachute, the more resistance it creates.

If you’re a person of small stature (less than 170 pounds) and just beginning a training program, you’ll want to stick with the smallest size available, which provides around fifteen pounds of resistance. However, if you have a larger frame(210 pounds or more) and are more physically fit, you may decide to go with the biggest parachute which offers around thirty pounds of resistance. If you’re somewhere in the middle, you’ll want the medium range one that will give you approximately twenty pounds of resistance.

Costs vary somewhere between $35-75 so they’re relatively inexpensive, especially when compared to the price of traditional exercise equipment. And, they are rather compact so they’re easy to take if you travel a lot.

Add a running parachute to your training regimen and your strength will increase in volumes. While it won’t help you if you jump out of a plane, it will make you feel just as exhilarated and accomplished as if you did.
